Ferrara Igniter Recall 22V409: Vehicle Lighting Can Fail, Reducing Visibility and Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 22V409, reported June 9, 2022, 22 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A wiring defect in the emergency equipment control system can disrupt communication on the vehicle's CAN network. An extra resistor was incorrectly installed on a printed circuit board, and this can cause the vehicle's lighting to stop working.

When lighting fails, the vehicle is harder for other drivers to see, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk, especially when operating the vehicle in low-visibility conditions or on busy roads.

The remedy is free: authorized dealers will replace the affected modules at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed July 18, 2022. You can also contact Ferrara customer service at 1-800-443-9006, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
