Vanguard VIP-53 Recall 22V345: Trailer Wheel Hubs May Lack Lubricant, Risking Detachment

NHTSA campaign 22V345, reported May 17, 2022, 2 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2022 VIP 53 ft. trailers may have wheel hubs with too little lubricant. Over time, this can cause the hub bearings to fail.

If a hub bearing fails, the wheel hub assembly could detach from the trailer. That can lead to loss of stability and control, or leave a road hazard for other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Authorized dealers will inspect the wheel hubs and add the proper amount of lubricant where needed, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed October 19, 2022. For questions, contact Vanguard customer service at 1-219-253-2000, and check your trailer's VIN for any open recalls.
