Ford Escape Recall 22V331: Battery Welds May Fail, Causing Loss of Drive Power

NHTSA campaign 22V331, reported May 13, 2022, 27 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain hybrid vehicles have insufficient welds inside the high-voltage traction battery. Over time, these welds may fail, which can cause the vehicle to lose drive power.

A sudden loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, particularly if it happens in traffic or at highway speeds. Owners should take this recall seriously and schedule the repair promptly.

An authorized Ford or Lincoln dealer will replace the high-voltage battery free of charge. You can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and you should check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
