Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 Recall 22V190: Overhead Panel Can Shut Off, Blocking Emergency Calls

NHTSA campaign 22V190, reported March 25, 2022, 8 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software error can cause the overhead control panel in certain 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS vehicles to become permanently deactivated. Because the panel is the means for an occupant to manually contact emergency personnel, a deactivated panel will not allow that call to be made. This can delay emergency responders after a crash and increase the risk of injury.

If you own a 2022 EQS 450 or EQS 580, dealers will update the overhead control panel software at no cost to you. According to the notice, all vehicles covered by this recall have already been remedied.

To confirm whether your vehicle is affected, check your VIN for open recalls, or contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
