Ford Transit Recall 22V183: Rearview Camera May Show Blank Image When Reversing

NHTSA campaign 22V183, reported March 25, 2022, 119 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2022 Ford Transit vehicles have a rearview camera, supplied in the Rear Video Camera and Prep Kit, that will not function when installed by the final stage manufacturer (upfitter). The result is a blank rearview image while the vehicle is in reverse.

A camera that does not show what is behind the vehicle reduces the driver's view while backing up, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Authorized Ford dealers will update the audio control module configuration settings at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 12, 2022. You can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
