What this recall means for you
The steering gear rack bar may not have been hardened properly during manufacturing. Over time it can bind inside the steering rack, making the steering wheel hard to turn or, in some cases, causing a loss of steering control.
Difficulty steering or losing steering control can increase the risk of a crash. If you experience stiff or hard steering, or any loss of steering control, take the vehicle to a dealer for inspection as soon as possible.
An authorized dealer will replace the steering gear assembly at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed May 12, 2022. You can also contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-852-1403 (recall number Z18), and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
