Ford F-59 Recall 22V145: Steering Shaft Bolt May Loosen, Causing Loss of Steering

NHTSA campaign 22V145, reported March 11, 2022, 72 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The bolt that secures the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear box may not have been tightened properly. Over time, this could allow the intermediate steering shaft to separate from the steering gear box.

If separation occurs, the driver can lose steering control, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and not delay the repair.

Authorized Ford dealers will inspect the intermediate shaft bolt and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed April 1, 2022. You can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 22S13), and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
