- Problem
- Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021 S580 4Matic vehicles. The air bag control unit may be improperly secured and may result in an unintentional air bag or seat belt deployment, or an improper deployment in the event of a crash.
- Risk
- Unintentional or improper deployment of air bags and/or seat belts can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
- Remedy
- Dealers will inspect and tighten the air bag control unit fastening nuts, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 15, 2022. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-637-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2022030024.

What this recall means for you
The air bag control unit in some vehicles may not be properly secured. If it is loose, the air bags or seat belts could deploy unintentionally, or deploy improperly during a crash. Unintended or improper deployment can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
An authorized dealer will inspect the air bag control unit and tighten its fastening nuts as needed. The repair is free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 15, 2022.
