Freightliner Business Class M2 Recall 22V118: Cracked brake drums can cause loss of braking

NHTSA campaign 22V118, reported March 2, 2022, 11 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Freightliner M2 trucks from model years 2020 through 2022 may have an air brake drum that can contact the hub assembly. Over time, this contact can cause the brake drum to crack.

A cracked brake drum can lead to a loss of brake function, which increases the risk of a crash. If you operate one of these vehicles, pay attention to any unusual brake noise, vibration, or reduced braking performance, and check your VIN for open recalls.

According to the manufacturer, all affected vehicles have already been remedied, so no owner notification letters are being sent. If you have questions, you may contact Daimler Truck North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall FL-920. The repair is free at an authorized dealer.
