- Component
- FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: RADAR
- Problem
- Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2021 C-HR vehicles. The radar sensor may not have been activated during production, making the pre-collision system (PCS) inoperative.

- Remedy
- Dealers will inspect and activate the radar sensor as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 22, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 22TA02.

- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
What this recall means for you
Some vehicles may have a radar sensor that was never activated during production. As a result, the pre-collision system (PCS), which is meant to help the car detect a possible collision and apply braking assist, may be inoperative. The system also may not show any warning light to tell the driver it is not working.
Because the safety system may not brake or assist as expected, the risk of a crash is increased. Drivers should not count on the forward collision avoidance feature until the issue is fixed.
An authorized Toyota dealer will inspect the radar sensor and activate it if needed, at no cost to the owner. Owners who received a notification letter mailed April 22, 2022 can contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
