Altec Aerial Device Recall 22V072: Bolts May Break, Risking Boom Separation and Injury

NHTSA campaign 22V072, reported February 9, 2022, 454 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain aerial devices from model years 2019 through 2021 may have had the bolts in the rotation bearing outer race over-tightened during assembly. Over-tightened bolts can break, which may cause the pedestal and turntable to separate.

If the pedestal and turntable separate, the aerial device can become unstable, creating a risk of injury to the operator and others nearby. Owners should check whether their equipment is covered by this recall.

The repair is free. Altec will replace the outer-race rotation bolts at no cost. Owners who were notified by mail on March 25, 2022 can contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832 and reference recall CSN 849. You can also check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
