Altec Aerial Device Recall 22V071: Cracked Bulkhead Plate Can Separate Equipment From Truck Frame

NHTSA campaign 22V071, reported February 9, 2022, 167 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain aerial devices and digger derricks mounted on trucks may develop cracks in the bulkhead plate of the unit subbase. When this happens, the shear plates can fail, which may cause the subbase to separate from the truck frame.

Separation of the subbase from the frame raises the risk of injury to people nearby and to operators working the equipment. Owners should take this recall seriously and act promptly.

The repair is free. Altec will inspect the bulkhead plate and add a reinforcement plate at no cost to the owner. Owners who received a notification letter mailed April 8, 2022, can contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832 and reference recall number CSN 851. You can also check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
