Micro Bird G5 Transit Bus Recall 21V991: Fold-Away Seat May Block Emergency Exit Release Handle

NHTSA campaign 21V991, reported December 17, 2021, 75 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A fold-away seat next to a side emergency exit may block access to the exit's release handle and its instruction label. Occupants might have to unfold the seat before they can open the exit, which could delay an emergency evacuation and raise the risk of injury. The vehicles also do not meet the federal bus emergency exit standard, FMVSS 217.

The manufacturer will send inspection instructions to owners. Authorized dealers will apply a new instruction label or relocate the emergency exit as needed, and the repair is free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 15, 2022.

If you own one of these buses, contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 and reference recall number 21-089-FUC. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
