Honda Rebel 1100 Recall 21V987: Radiator cap may leak hot coolant, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 21V987, reported December 16, 2021, 1,022 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The radiator cap on certain motorcycles may have been improperly formed during manufacturing, so it may not seal correctly. An insufficiently sealed cap can leak or spray hot coolant.

Hot coolant spraying from the engine can injure the rider and passenger, and the loss of coolant or sudden spray can also increase the risk of a crash.

Authorized Honda dealers will replace the radiator cap and refill any lost coolant at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed February 22, 2022. You can also contact Honda service at 1-888-234-2138, and you can check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
