Bentley Continental GT Recall 21V975: Owner's manual wrongly describes passenger airbag, raising injury risk

NHTSA campaign 21V975, reported December 15, 2021, 3,777 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The owner's manual for these Bentley vehicles incorrectly states that the front passenger air bag will not deploy when the "Passenger Airbag On" symbol is illuminated. In fact, the air bag system is designed to deploy in that situation, so the manual's information is wrong. The vehicles also fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

The incorrect information could change how occupants position themselves relative to the air bags, which increases the risk of injury in a crash.

Bentley will mail new labels to owners, who can apply them themselves or have a dealer apply them at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 10, 2022. To get your label or ask questions, contact Bentley customer service at 1-800-777-6923, referencing recall number RE21/43 (RC26). You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
