Great Dane Everest Recall 21V943: Wheel Hubs May Lack Lubricant, Risking Hub Detachment

NHTSA campaign 21V943, reported December 7, 2021, 3,288 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2022 Great Dane Champion dry van and Everest refrigerated trailers may have wheel hubs with too little lubricant. Insufficient lubrication can cause the hub bearings to fail.

If a hub bearing fails, the wheel hub assembly could detach from the trailer. That can cause loss of stability and control, create a road hazard, and increase the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Great Dane will work with SAF Holland, the wheel hub supplier, to inspect the hubs and add the proper amount of lubricant where needed. Owners can contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493. Owner notification letters were mailed January 25, 2022.
