Hyundai Accent Recall 21V937: Worn Brake Seal Can Reduce Stopping Power

NHTSA campaign 21V937, reported December 2, 2021, 76 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2021 Hyundai Accent vehicles may have a brake master cylinder that was made with sharp edges. Those edges can damage the inner oil seal inside the cylinder, which can reduce braking performance.

Reduced braking can cause longer brake pedal travel or a longer distance needed to stop the vehicle, which raises the risk of a crash. If you notice a change in how your brakes feel or respond, have the vehicle checked promptly.

Authorized Hyundai dealers will replace the brake master cylinder free of charge. Owners who received the notification letter mailed February 10, 2022 can also contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
