RAM 1500 Recall 21V918: Rearview camera may fail to show image, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 21V918, reported November 23, 2021, 38,157 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The trailer reverse steering control module in these pickups may stop the rearview camera image from displaying on the screen. A camera that does not show what is behind the vehicle reduces the driver's view while backing up, which increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy is a free software update to the trailer reverse steering control module, performed by an authorized dealer. Owner notification letters were mailed in January and February 2022. This recall has been superseded by a later recall, 23V-059, so check your VIN for open recalls and ask the dealer which campaign applies to your truck.
