Ford Ranger Recall 21V765: Child Seats May Not Install Securely, Raising Crash Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 21V765, reported September 30, 2021, 37,625 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain rear seats in these vehicles have fixed head restraints that can get in the way of some child seats, and the child seat may not attach properly to the lower-rear anchors. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet the federal child restraint anchorage standard. An improperly attached child seat can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Dealers will inspect the rear lower child restraint anchorages and adjust them as needed. They will also replace the non-removable head restraints with removable ones. Both repairs are free of charge.

Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 21C24. You can also check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected and the repair is still pending.
