What this recall means for you
Certain 2020-2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator and Corsair vehicles equipped with 360-degree cameras may have a rearview camera whose video output fails, so the camera image does not appear on the display. Without that image, the driver has a reduced view behind the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy is a free software update to the Image Processing Module (IPMB), which dealers will perform at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 16, 2021. If you own an affected vehicle, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or visit an authorized dealer to schedule the repair.
You can also check your VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website or through Ford's owner resources. Until the repair is done, be extra careful when backing up and check over your shoulder and around the vehicle before moving in reverse.
