Volvo XC60 Recall 21V682: Seat Belts May Not Lock Child Seats Securely

NHTSA campaign 21V682, reported September 1, 2021, 19,149 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain seat belt retractors can deactivate early, which may stop the automatic locking feature from holding a child restraint system firmly in place. The affected vehicles also fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208, which covers occupant crash protection.

A child seat that is not properly secured can move during a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the child. If you have a child restraint installed in one of these vehicles, make sure it is tightly anchored and check it regularly.

Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assemblies as needed at no cost to you. Volvo Car owner notification letters were mailed October 13, 2021. You can contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-888-458-1552, referencing recall number R10111, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
