Infiniti QX80 Recall 21V599: Rear-view camera screen may go blank, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 21V599, reported August 2, 2021, 3,569 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software error can shut off the audio/video control unit screen, so the rear-view camera image does not display. Without that image, the driver's view behind the vehicle is reduced, which increases the risk of a crash, especially when backing up.

Authorized Infiniti dealers will update the control unit software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed September 14, 2021. If you have questions, you can contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

You can check whether your vehicle has any open recalls by entering your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup site or through Infiniti. If this recall applies to your vehicle, schedule the free software update with a dealer as soon as possible.
