Spartan K2 Recall 21V589: Instrument Cluster May Go Blank While Driving

NHTSA campaign 21V589, reported July 29, 2021, 2,727 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The instrument cluster display in certain Spartan K-series RV chassis may intermittently go blank while the vehicle is moving. When this happens, important information such as vehicle speed and warning lights may not be visible to the driver.

A blank cluster can leave the driver without key information about the vehicle's condition, which increases the risk of a crash. If your cluster goes blank, pull over safely when it is practical to do so and check the vehicle's condition before continuing.

The remedy is free at an authorized dealer: the control module software will be updated, and the ductwork will be rerouted and secured. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 15, 2021. You can contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454 (recall number 21-13), and you should check your VIN for open recalls.
