Newmar Kountry Star Recall 21V542: Loose Steering Tie Rod Clamps Could Cause Loss of Steering

NHTSA campaign 21V542, reported July 20, 2021, 11 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The tie rod clamps in the steering linkage of certain motorhomes may be loose. Over time, this can allow the tie rod ends to loosen, break, or detach from the steering system.

If a tie rod end breaks or detaches, the driver can lose steering control, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should treat this as a safety issue and have the vehicle checked promptly.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer, which will replace the tie rod clamp bolts and nuts. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 9, 2022. For questions, contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300 and reference recall number FL-888. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
