Ford F-350 SD Recall 21V536: Rear Axle Housing May Deform, Risking Driveshaft Separation

NHTSA campaign 21V536, reported July 15, 2021, 27,604 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2020-2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty trucks with 6.7L diesel engines and Dana model 275 rear axles may have a rear axle housing that does not adequately support the truck's load. Over time the housing can deform, which may lead to the driveshaft separating from the vehicle.

If the driveshaft separates, the truck can lose drive power. If the vehicle is in park without the parking brake applied, it could also move unintentionally, increasing the risk of a crash.

Owners should contact a Ford dealer or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 21S31. Dealers will inspect the rear axle housing for deformities and repair or replace it as necessary at no cost. Owners can also check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
