Nissan Redundant Rogue Sport Recall 21V525: Rear Liftgate Hinges Can Separate in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 21V525, reported July 9, 2021, 13,215 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The rear liftgate hinges on certain 2021 vehicles can separate from the vehicle during a rear-end crash. This means the vehicle does not fully meet federal door retention requirements (FMVSS 206).

If the hinges separate, the liftgate no longer offers its intended protection in a crash, which increases the risk of injury to occupants. Owners should not wait to have this addressed.

The remedy is free: authorized dealers will replace the left and right liftgate hinges at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed September 7, 2021. You can also contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, and check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
