Maintainer Service/Mechanics Body Recall 21V518: Crane May Detach From Truck, Risking Injury or Death

NHTSA campaign 21V518, reported July 8, 2021, 7 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Crane mounting bolts on these service bodies are not long enough to securely attach the crane to its mount. Over time, the crane can come loose and detach from the vehicle.

A detached crane creates a serious risk of injury or death to operators, bystanders, and other people near the vehicle. If you own one of these vehicles, stop using the crane until it has been repaired.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer, who will replace the mounting bolts with the correct size and torque them to specification. Owners should have received a notification letter mailed July 27, 2021. You can also contact Maintainer customer service at 1-866-781-3259, and check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
