Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Recall 21V495: Driver Air Bag May Not Deploy Properly in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 21V495, reported July 1, 2021, 12 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The front driver's side air bag module may be missing one or more metal tabs that hold the plastic air bag cover to the housing. Without those tabs, the air bag may not deploy properly.

If the air bag does not deploy correctly in a crash, the risk of injury to the driver increases. Owners should not wait to have this checked.

Dealers will inspect the driver's frontal air bag and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed August 16, 2021. You can also contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
