Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Recall 21V478: Driveshaft May Separate, Causing Loss of Drive Power

NHTSA campaign 21V478, reported June 25, 2021, 1,522 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016-2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT vehicles may have insufficient bonding between the carbon-fiber driveshaft and its flange. If the bond fails, the driveshaft can separate from the vehicle's drivetrain.

A separated driveshaft can cause a loss of drive power, which increases the risk of a crash. If you own one of these vehicles, check whether it is covered by this recall by entering your VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup site or by contacting an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.

The repair is free. An authorized dealer will inspect the carbon-fiber driveshaft and replace it if necessary. Owner letters were mailed October 15, 2021. You can also contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2021090008.
