Mack Granite (Gu) Recall 21V476: Suspension Hardware Can Separate, Creating a Road Hazard

NHTSA campaign 21V476, reported June 25, 2021, 8 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain steerable lift axles on these trucks may have lower rear pivot cap screws that are too short to fully engage the locking feature of their nuts. Over time, this can allow the hardware to come loose and separate from the suspension system.

If the hardware separates, it can become a road hazard and increases the risk of a crash or injury. Owners should take this recall seriously and have their truck checked as soon as possible.

The remedy is free. An authorized Mack dealer will inspect the suspension system and replace the lower rear pivot cap screws as necessary at no cost to you. You can also contact Mack Trucks customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 30, 2021, and you can check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
