Temsa TS45 Recall 21V454: Roof emergency exit may not open during a crash

NHTSA campaign 21V454, reported June 17, 2021, 295 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The external release handle for the roof emergency exit on certain Temsa TS45 buses may have a rusted wire that could break when force is applied to open the exit. The vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 217 for bus emergency exits.

If the handle wire breaks, passengers could be delayed in exiting the bus during an emergency, which increases their risk of injury. Owners of affected buses should contact an authorized Temsa service center, where the external handle wire will be replaced free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 12, 2021.

For help scheduling the repair, contact Temsa customer service at 1-800-625-9319. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
