Custom Truck & Body Works Ford F-550 Recall 21V408: Dashboard Display May Lock Up or Fail, Delaying Emergency Response

NHTSA campaign 21V408, reported June 1, 2021, 990 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2020 Ford F-550 trucks fitted with Weldon V-Mux Vista IV Standard LCD displays may experience low voltage spikes. These spikes can cause the LCD display in the instrument panel to lock up or stop working entirely, depending on how the electrical system was installed.

A non-functioning display can delay emergency efforts, which increases the risk of injury. Owners should not wait to have this checked, particularly if the display has already frozen or failed.

The remedy is free: authorized dealers will replace the Vista IV Standard LCD displays at no charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for owner notification. You can contact Custom Truck customer service at 1-888-712-2963, and you can check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your truck is affected.
