Kzrv Stratus Recall 21V397: Wrong Breaker Size Can Raise Trailer Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 21V397, reported May 26, 2021, 117 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021 trailers have water heater circuits wired with a 20-amp circuit breaker when the circuit requires a 15-amp breaker. The oversized breaker may not trip when it should, and the wiring may lack adequate protection against overcurrent.

Inadequate wiring protection can increase the risk of a fire. Owners should stop relying on the water heater circuit until the repair is completed, and should contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016, ext. 154 or 153 for guidance.

Authorized dealers will replace the 20-amp circuit breaker with a 15-amp breaker at no cost to the owner. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your trailer is affected.
