Freightliner M2 Business Class Recall 21V392: Wiring may overheat and cut drive power, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 21V392, reported May 26, 2021, 8 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2019 Freightliner eBusiness Class M2 trucks with 14Xe ePowertrains may have stator assembly wires that were not crimped tightly enough. This can create high electrical resistance and overheating, which can stop the high voltage system from starting.

A loss of power to the system can cause a loss of drive power, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk and take the recall seriously.

The repair is free. Authorized dealers will replace the motor stator at no charge. According to the notice, all units were remedied by July 13, 2021. If you have questions, contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712, referencing recall FL-889, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
