Tesla Model 3 Recall 21V387: Loose Brake Caliper Bolts Can Damage Tires and Raise Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 21V387, reported May 25, 2021, 5,974 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles may have loose brake caliper bolts. If the bolts are loose, the brake caliper can separate and contact the wheel rim. That contact can cause a loss of tire pressure, which increases the risk of a crash.

Tesla Service will inspect the caliper bolts and tighten them or replace them as needed, at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed July 23, 2021. You can contact Tesla customer service online at www.tesla.com/support/contact or by calling 1-877-79-TESLA (1-877-798-3752) to arrange the service.

Regardless of whether you received a letter, check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls and schedule the free inspection with an authorized Tesla service center if your vehicle is affected.
