Keystone Cougar Recall 21V380: Trailer Frame Can Buckle, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 21V380, reported May 24, 2021, 1,990 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Keystone Cougar trailers from model years 2017 through 2021 have frame rails that lack enough cross support. Under certain side-load stress conditions, the frame rails could buckle.

A buckled frame rail can increase the risk of a crash. Owners should stop relying on the trailer's frame integrity until the recall repair is completed.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer, which will add cross braces between each spring hanger and an outrigger between the tires on the off-door side of the trailer. Owner notification letters were mailed July 15, 2021. You can also check your VIN for open recalls and contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369, referencing recall number 21-411.
