Forest River Columbus Recall 21V374: Trailer Brakes May Fail to Activate in an Emergency

NHTSA campaign 21V374, reported May 21, 2021, 93 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2021 Columbus fifth wheel trailers have a breakaway switch that was wired incorrectly. If the trailer separates from the tow vehicle, the breakaway switch and trailer brakes may not activate when they are needed to stop the trailer.

This failure can increase the risk of a crash or injury, since a runaway trailer may not slow or stop as it should.

An authorized dealer will rewire the breakaway switch at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed June 9, 2021. You can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-821-1487 and refer to recall number 410-1350. You should also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
