BMW 230i Recall 21V342: Roof liner support may detach and fall during a crash

NHTSA campaign 21V342, reported May 12, 2021, 2 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Supports inside the roof liner may not be securely attached. A support can separate from the liner and drop into the passenger compartment.

If this happens in a crash that deploys the head airbag, the falling part could increase the risk of injury to occupants. Owners should take this seriously even though the risk only arises in a crash.

An authorized BMW dealer will inspect the roof liner and repair or replace it as needed, at no charge. Owners can also call BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
