KME Custom Chassis Recall 21V333: Fuel Rail Leak Can Cause Fire in Some KME Trucks

NHTSA campaign 21V333, reported May 11, 2021, 386 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A sealing washer in the high pressure fuel rail assembly may not seat correctly in the pilot bore holes, which can allow diesel fuel to leak from the rail. This affects certain 2012 through 2019 KME Custom Chassis vehicles.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. Owners should watch for signs of fuel leaking near the engine, and take the vehicle to an authorized dealer promptly if they notice any.

Authorized dealers will inspect the fuel rail threads and replace the rail if necessary, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 2, 2021. You can also contact KME customer service at 1-800-235-3928, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
