What this recall means for you
Some tire pressure monitoring sensors in these vehicles were calibrated incorrectly. After a tire rotation, the system may not correctly detect where a wheel sensor is located, so it can misidentify which tire has low air pressure. Driving on an underinflated tire without a correct warning increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy is free. Dealers will replace the wheel electronics and tire valves at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 25, 2021. If you have not received one, you can contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 and reference recall number 44R2. You can also check your VIN for any open recalls.
