Manac Steel Platform Recall 21V269: Steering Arm Bolts Can Break, Risking Loss of Steering

NHTSA campaign 21V269, reported April 20, 2021, 11 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The steer arm bolts on certain trailers may break, allowing the steer arm to detach from the steering knuckle. This affects the steering linkage on the affected units.

A detached steer arm may drag on the road, which increases the risk of injury to the driver, other road users, and bystanders. Owners should stop using the trailer if they notice unusual steering behavior, looseness, or grinding, and contact the manufacturer for guidance.

The repair is free: dealers will weld the steering arm to the knuckle at no charge. Owners will be notified by the manufacturer, and they can also contact Manac customer service at 1-800-361-7900. Check your vehicle identification number for open recalls to confirm whether your trailer is affected.
