NHTSA campaign 21V268, reported April 19, 2021, 12 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software defect in the body controller that runs the door motor can allow the rear door of certain 2019-2020 Proterra Catalyst 40-foot buses to open without the driver knowing it.

Because the door may open without warning, the risk of injury to passengers and others near the bus is increased. Owners will be notified by Proterra, and the fix is a software update performed free of charge by an authorized dealer. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 11, 2021.

If you own one of these buses, contact Proterra customer service at 1-864-438-0000 to confirm your vehicle's status and schedule the free software update. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
