Palfinger Hook Lift Recall 21V254: Tarp Arms Can Break, Risking Injury

NHTSA campaign 21V254, reported April 12, 2021, 82 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2019-2021 truck-mounted roll-off, cable hoist, and hook lift units equipped with tarp systems may have a welded gusset that can crack from fatigue over time. When the gusset fails, the tarp arms can break.

Broken tarp arms may fail during use, which increases the risk of injury. Owners of affected equipment should take this recall seriously and stop relying on a damaged tarp system until it is repaired.

The remedy is free. Omaha Standard will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the tarp arms at no charge. The recall began May 10, 2021. Owners can contact Omaha Standard customer service at 1-609-588-5400 and should check their vehicle identification number for open recalls.
