Honda CBR1000RR Recall 21V249: Rear Plate May Break, Causing Sudden Height Drop

NHTSA campaign 21V249, reported April 8, 2021, 89 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The rear cushion connecting plates on certain motorcycles may have been installed incorrectly. Over time, this can cause one or both plates to break.

If a plate breaks, the rear of the motorcycle can suddenly drop, which increases the risk of a crash and injury. Owners should not ignore a sudden change in how the rear of the bike sits or handles.

The repair is free. Honda will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will inspect both rear cushion connecting plates and replace them as needed at no cost. You can also contact Honda Powersports customer service at 1-866-784-1870 (reference recall KL9). Check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your motorcycle is affected.
