Demers Ambulances Type I (MXP170E) Recall 21V183: Attendant seat pin may fail, leaving occupant unrestrained in crash

NHTSA campaign 21V183, reported March 17, 2021, 12 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain ambulances with a sliding attendant seat on the passenger side of the patient compartment may have a locking pin assembly that can fail under certain loading conditions. The vehicles also fail to fully comply with federal seating system and seat belt anchorage standards.

If the locking pin fails, the occupant may not be sufficiently restrained during a crash, which increases the risk of injury. Owners should contact Braun Ambulances customer service at 1-877-344-9990 for more information. Braun will notify owners, and dealers will replace the locking pin assembly free of charge.

You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls on the NHTSA website, and contact an authorized dealer to schedule the free repair.
