Honda Pilot Recall 21V165: Tires May Fail Suddenly, Risking Loss of Vehicle Control

NHTSA campaign 21V165, reported March 11, 2021, 1,093 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some tires on these Honda Passport and Pilot vehicles may have been cured for too long during manufacturing. Overcured tires can develop a break in the sidewall or belt edge separation, which can cause sudden air loss or tread and belt loss.

Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Owners should take this recall seriously and check whether their vehicle is affected.

Honda will notify owners, and authorized dealers will inspect all four tires and replace them as necessary at no charge. You can contact American Honda Motor Co. customer service at 1-888-234-2138 (Honda recall number UA2), and you should also check your VIN for open recalls.
