Autocar Legend Recall 21V149: Steering may bind and become hard to control

NHTSA campaign 21V149, reported March 9, 2021, 60 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2020 and 2021 Autocar Legend vehicles, the steering column tilt control cable can contact the steering shaft. This may cause the shaft to bind and make the steering noticeably harder to turn.

A sudden increase in steering effort can raise the risk of a crash or injury, since the driver may not be able to steer as expected when it matters most. Owners should watch for any unusual stiffness or change in steering feel.

The repair is free. Authorized dealers will inspect the steering column tilt cable routing and repair or replace it as needed. Owners can contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 or 1-877-973-3486, and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
