What this recall means for you
The brake light switch on certain Nissan Sentra vehicles may become contaminated. When this happens, the electrical circuit may not close, so the brake lights may not illuminate when you press the brake pedal.
Brake lights warn drivers behind you that you are slowing or stopping. If they do not light up, following drivers may not realize you are braking, which increases the risk of a crash.
If you own a 2016, 2017, 2018, or 2019 Nissan Sentra, check your VIN for open recalls. Dealers will replace the brake light switch and install a protective grommet at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 1, 2022. You can also contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7769 and reference recall number PM971.
