Volkswagen Atlas Recall 21V132: Wheels May Separate From Vehicle, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 21V132, reported March 3, 2021, 128 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some wheels may have had their lug bolt holes machined incorrectly. As a result, the lug bolts may not attach securely to the wheel bearing hub, so a wheel could separate from the vehicle while driving.

A wheel that comes off can cause a loss of vehicle control and increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and act on it promptly.

Volkswagen will notify owners, and authorized dealers will inspect all four wheels and replace the wheels, lug bolts, and wheel bearings as needed, at no cost to you. Check your VIN for open recalls, and contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 with questions.
