Ferrara Aerial Recall 21V130: Waterway Trolley May Detach From Ladder and Fall

NHTSA campaign 21V130, reported March 2, 2021, 257 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2009-2016 Ferrara Aerial fire apparatus, the locking tabs on the positional waterway trolley can break off the locking arms if the operator tries to extend the ladder and shift the trolley between modes at the same time. A damaged trolley can disconnect from the ladder and drop to the ground.

This failure increases the risk of injury or death for people working near the apparatus. Owners should contact Ferrara customer service at 1-800-443-9006 to confirm their vehicle is covered. Ferrara will notify owners, and the repair is free: authorized dealers will adjust the proximity switches on units equipped with a positional waterway mode shift timer interlock system. The recall began on April 20, 2021.

If you own or operate one of these vehicles, check your VIN for open recalls and schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer.
